Vigil held for former Marine killed in police shooting

Posted: Updated:

A vigil was held Tuesday evening in memory of a White Plains man who was shot and killed by police several years ago.

The family of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. held the event last night, and are still calling for justice in his death.

The former Marine was hit with a Taser and shot by a White Plains police officer eight years ago in his apartment after he triggered his medical alert system. The responding officers say the Marine veteran lunged at them with a knife during the incident. "We say black lives matter, the police say blue lives matter, some say all lives matter, but then I say that race and class play a role in how these cases are treated. Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. can be any one of us, any one of us at any given time," says his son Kenneth Chamberlain Jr.

Just last month, a film on the story of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr.'s life premiered at the Austin Film Festival.
