Latimer: Westchester prepared for wintry weather

Posted: Updated:

The first flurries of the season Tuesday may have only been a taste of what's to come, but Westchester County Executive George Latimer says they are prepared if and when wintry weather hits the area.

There wasn't a need for snow plows Tuesday, but Latimer says the county is already preparing its salt trucks, roadway patrols, emergency services and drop-in shelters across the county.

"We are concerned about the wind factor, falling branches and power outages," says Latimer.

Latimer said in order to stay safe and warm this winter to make sure vehicles are in working order, to fill gas tanks, make sure phones are charged, keep winter supplies in cars and to dress warmly.

News 12 meteorologists say temperatures are expected to drop Tuesday night, so it is advised to bundle up and stay safe.
