Westchester County Jail officials welcomed the opportunity to bring classical composer Eric Genuis and world-class soloists inside its walls for an inspirational and uplifting concert Wednesday.
This isn't the first time Genuis has done this. He chooses to play in places such as prisons, inner city schools and drug rehab centers.
Westchester County Department of Corrections houses hundreds of inmates. Many of these inmates have not been outside prison walls for years, and Eric Genuis worries they may have been "forgotten." He takes world-class soloists and brings them together with the goal of giving a little piece of humanity and hope back to the ones he feels need it most.
Genuis has played all over the world, but he says these concerts make him feel like they are his Carnegie Hall.
