CSX train strikes car-carrying trailer at crash-prone West Nyack crossing

Posted: Updated:

Emergency crews responded in Rockland County Friday after a train crash outside a residential neighborhood.

Police say a CSX train hit a car-carrying trailer on the tracks just before 1:30 p.m. at the Pineview Road crossing in West Nyack.

The road connects Western Highway to several industrial businesses and a residential neighborhood.

No one was injured in the crash, but it brought down powerlines and knocked out electricity to some areas.

The crossing, which doesn't have a railroad gate or lights, has been the site of multiple accidents, including two separate train collisions with trucks last fall.
