Not so rosy: 21 rose signs stolen in Briarcliff Manor

Officials say roses that adorn many of the street signs in Briarcliff Manor have disappeared.
Some believe that it may be pranksters who are stealing the signs by ripping them from the street posts.
Homeowners started noticing the missing signs in early September.

Village officials believe the missing street signs may be connected to a scavenger hunt that was apparently organized online. For them it’s not a game – it’s theft and vandalism.

Village Manager Philip Zegareli believes 21 signs in total were taken - mostly from the east side. He says it will cost about $10,000 to replace them.
Zegarelli says cops are pursuing leads, but in the meantime, he is sending a message to the thieves: “The point is knock it off, come on get a life,” he says.

Zegarelli expects most of the stolen signs will be replaced by next week.
