Suffern Police Department sells T-shirts to raise money for slain NYPD officer

Posted: Updated:

A police department in Rockland County has found a unique way to raise money for the families of fallen officers and is using its success to help an NYPD officer with family in Suffern.

Suffern Police Chief Clark Osborn is organizing a T-shirt sale fundraiser for Officer Brian Mulkeen – similar to those he has organized in the past for other slain officers. He told News 12 that the Mulkeen's death hits closer to home.

Earlier this week, the chief gave the Suffern mayor a check for more than $11,000 for the village's 9/11 memorial. They raised that money through T-shirt sales only.

The department is only using social media to market the shirts, which officers sell directly at places like the Suffern Hockey Rink.
