Firefighters and police battle on the gridiron for ALSPosted: Updated:
Yonkers firefighters and police went head to head on the football field this week for bragging rights and a good cause.
The two sides took the field at Gorton High School with the goal of raising awareness about ALS and raising money for Pat Quinn, who is battling the debilitating disease.
Quinn was made an honorary police officer during a ceremony last week. "Pat was given the badge number 1010, and I believe the back story to that is, it's a signal when, if an officer is in trouble and needs help, that if he's on the phone or makes a call out, and other P.O.'s rush to his aid. And my son Patrick needs help, and he's in trouble," says Quinn’s father.
Quinn co-founded of the Ice Bucket Challenge in 2004, which became a major fundraising effort for ALS.
Firefighters claimed victory on the field, but everyone involved were winners.
