Hudson Valley turns out for day of service in memory of 9/11 victims

People across the Hudson Valley are helping turn Sept. 11 -- a day of tragedy -- into a day of doing good.
Residents in White Plains were among the many people participating in the 9/11 day of service, helping turn a day of tragedy into a day of unity and peace.
9/11 Serve and Remember is an annual communitywide day of service dedicated to honoring the memory of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
Volunteers from across the region came together to honor the victims, the families who lost loved ones and the volunteer heroes who responded in the wake of the unprecedented tragedy that occurred only miles from the community.
Volunteers made cards for deployed service members, made sandwiches to feed the hungry, created blankets that will be donated to children in hospitals and made gifts for seniors.
