Shelter volunteers trek to S. Carolina to save dogs left behind in Dorian's wake

More than a dozen dogs from Georgia are now on their way to safety in Elmsford following Hurricane Dorian's wrath.
Paws Crossed Animal Rescue CEO Jennifer Angelucci and volunteer Scott Salant traveled to Salem County, South Carolina to pick up 22 dogs.
"It's such a great need here," Angelucci said, "especially during a hurricane or any kind of storm like that. Clearing out the shelters there to make room for people's pets so they can be reunited after the storm is really important."
An animal rescuer met Angelucci and Salant in South Carolina with the sheltered dogs from Georgia, including a litter of lab puppies that almost drowned in an overflowing gully.
At the end of their long journey, the dogs will receive a warm welcome at Paws Crossed, with the ultimate goal of finding their forever homes.
