Police: Woman's car was 1 of 4 targeted break-ins in Harriman gym parking lot

Officers told a woman that her car was one of four that was broken into at the Gold's Gym parking lot in Harriman.
Aida Ortiz says she was inside the gym for about an hour, and that's all the time it took for her window to be shattered by the thieves.
Her purse, which she placed under the front passenger seat, was taken. The contents of her purse included her driver's license, credit cards and cash.
Ortiz says she was parked only three spaces away from the front door of the gym.
When officers spoke to Ortiz, she says they informed her that there were three other women whose cars were broken into, and bags were stolen, in the same area.
"One had it in the back seat," Ortiz says. "Another woman had it in the front seat."
On the scene, there are no visible signs of surveillance cameras outside the gym that could have captured the incident.
Ortiz says she fears the thief is still loose. She offered advice, saying, "Constantly watch in parking lots, be aware of your surroundings, and most importantly, don't leave anything in your car."
News 12 reached out to Harriman police for further information on the case but has not heard back.
