A group of young people looking for a second chance are training therapy dogs in Westchester.
Teens from Rising Grounds non-secure placement program in Brooklyn made the trip to Yonkers to train dogs to be therapy animals.
They use treats and training techniques to make sure the pups are ready for their next chapter. "Kids are here with us because they've been placed by a New York City Family Court judge for having committed some sort of delinquent act in New York City. They stay with us and one of our residents for six to seven months, and during that timeframe we do things like this," says Lisa Crook, of Rising Ground. "For the kids, it's just another avenue for them to learn what's available to them."
The therapy dogs will take their test by the end of summer.
