A man was struck and killed on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County Tuesday evening.
Police say 29-year-old Nicholas Polao, from Cortlandt Manor, was on the left shoulder with his disabled vehicle at exit 13N in Clarkstown when he was hit around 11 p.m.
Troopers say they received reports that Polao had tried crossing the road, and that's when they say he was struck by 53-year-old Zarita Holness.
Polao was taken to Westchester Medical Center for life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Holness wasn't hurt.
