Firefighters going above and beyond in New City

Two firefighters are being lauded for going above and beyond in New City.
Fire Lieutenant Brendan Wren and Volunteer Firefighter Thomas Gerlich were off-duty Monday when they passed by a blaze at a home on Little Tor Road.
The quickly realized nobody had yet called 911.
Lieutenant Wren helped notify officials of the situation to get them to the scene.
Gerlich heard there was someone inside and
He was able to find an elderly woman on the first floor and bring her to safety.
All five residents, and their dog, were able to get out safely.
The house was severely damaged and homeowners have had to find another place to live while repairs are made.
