Cast your votes – primary elections to be held Tuesday

On the streets of White Plains, many community members told News 12 that they were unaware that polls are open Tuesday for primary elections.
It could be because state lawmakers moved up primary day from September to June earlier this year to make sure all federal, state and local elections are held on the same day.

The commissioners at the Board of Elections say they are overseeing 29 primary races in Westchester and have been working around the clock since the state changed the election date without a lot of notice.

The commissioners say countywide, the races to watch are the mayoral races in Mount Vernon and Yonkers. As for front runners, they believe it will come down to voter turnout
That could also be unpredictable this year in part because of the predicted rainy weather Tuesday.

Polls open at 6 a.m.
