An RV erupted in flames on the Mario Cuomo Bridge ahead of the Monday afternoon rush, bringing northbound traffic to a standstill.
The flames are now under control following a joint effort between the Tarrytown Fire Department on the Westchester side of the Hudson River, and the Rockland County Fire Department on the Rockland side.
Officials say a mobile home was being towed by a vehicle when it burst into flames, sending black smoke that could be seen for miles billowing into the sky.
No injuries have been reported.
All lanes have since been reopened. Officials say there was no structural damage to the bridge.
It marked the first major fire since the completion of the Mario Cuomo Bridge.
