Police, firefighter PTSD bill heads to Lamont

A plan to extend post-traumatic stress disorder benefits to police and firefighters is headed to Gov. Ned Lamont's desk for his signature.
State lawmakers voted to extend workers compensation coverage to PTSD. Police and firefighters would qualify for a year of free PTSD treatment under the legislation.
The Connecticut House of Representatives passed the legislation with wide, bipartisan support.
A compromise plan will study adding EMTs and paramedics to the coverage.
