YONKERS -

The rain didn't stop the annual Memorial Day Parade in Yonkers.

Dozens gathered on McLean Avenue Thursday night to honor fallen military service members.

The parade is held on May 30 every year to honor the first official Memorial Day, which was back in 1868 following the end of the Civil War.

Memorial Day became a national holiday in 1971, moving it to the last Monday of May.
