Jet Ski incident in Westchester prompts water safety advisory

The Westchester County Marine Unit is encouraging people to take precaution when out on the water this summer following the rescue of a Rockland man from the Hudson Friday afternoon.
"We saw a Jet Ski in the middle of the channel. As we approached it we realized there wasn't a rider on [it],” Officer Wilberto Saez said.
"As we were searching, we called for aviation to see if they were available to help us search. And then my partner saw to the left side by the Rockland light that there was something bobbing in the water up and down."
Saez said the Jet Skier was OK, but it could have been a lot worse. He said the man had on his personal flotation device – a simple safety measure that can make the difference between life and death.
The Westchester County Marine Unit says especially on a holiday weekend like Memorial Day, they're taking extra precautions and putting on extra units to make sure everyone can stay safe.
