Rockland motel used for emergency housing probed for health, safety concerns

CONGERS -

A Rockland County motel used by the county for emergency housing is now under investigation for health and safety concerns.

Through Rockland County Social Services, Brady Kish and her family are living at the Raintree Motel -- a living environment Kish calls "deplorable." Kish posted photos to Facebook that show apparently filthy carpets, ragged mattresses, dirty air conditioners and broken lamps in her unit.

The motel's owner says he has never before been notified of any issues. He agreed to show News 12 one room that appeared clean, but asked that the recording stop at Kish's living space. He says that nothing has changed inside the unit since the most recent inspection, a few months ago, but the Facebook complaint prompted officials to take a second look.

County officials say inspectors found a long list of health violations, but none severe enough to warrant shutting the motel down. Town officials say the motel has a history of building violations. They say their inspectors also returned following the Facebook post and cited the motel for its current state of disrepair.
