Westchester may an expensive place to live, but there will soon be some new affordable options for seniors.
There are plans in the works to build new affordable housing in Portchester. The project site will be known as the Regent Street Senior Apartments.
It will be a four-story elevator building with 34 units for low-income senior residents that will feature all new amenities.
This project is just one of several included in the state's $22.9 million initiative to make living in New York more affordable for some of the most vulnerable residents.
Local lawmakers agree the move is a win for the community.
Officials say they're hoping to begin construction within the next year.
