American Red Cross installs over 100 smoke alarms throughout Yonkers

One hundred people came together Saturday to install smoke alarms throughout Yonkers.
It was all part of the American Red Cross' Sound the Alarm, Save a Life campaign.

Their goal was to install 1,000 smoke alarms in people's homes.
"Our Red Cross is one of the busiest in the country and what we primarily respond to are home fires,” says Abigail Adams of the American Red Cross of Greater New York. “We just want to make sure that everybody has the chance to get out. It happens so quickly. People don't realize."
Organizers say smoke alarms reduce the risk of death or injury by fire by 50%.
The campaign has already saved nearly 600 lives nationwide.
