A Vietnam veteran is on a mission to raise awareness for the issues veterans face.
Frank Romeo, along with about two dozen people, crossed the walkway over the Hudson Sunday. It's part of his mission to walk across New York state.
Romeo started his walk about eight weeks ago at Niagara Falls.
He says Sunday was special because he encouraged families to walk with him for Walk With Frank Family Day.
As he continues his mission, Romeo says he is grateful for the love and support he has received along the way.
"It means so much to me," says Romeo. "People are listening. This is a very serious subject. We need to have a conversation about mental health and it's so nice to have people come and embrace it and join me on the walk."
Romeo's next stop is in the city of Newburgh. He plans on reaching Westchester in mid-May followed by New York City and then ending his journey on Long Island in June.
