Saturday was Opening Day for Bedford Hills Katonah Little League's 2019 baseball season, and marked the return to the field for a child who suffered a stroke last summer.
Rocky Serrano, who suffers from a rare congenital condition, suffered a serious stroke in July 2018. He underwent several months of intensive rehabilitation at Blythedale Children's Hospital.
The 10-year-old was welcomed back by cheering crowds during opening ceremonies. Serrano says it was a "big honor" to throw out the first pitch of the season.
Serrano is continuing to undergo speech and physical therapy.
