A Long Island man has created a new sign to direct visitors to author Washington Irving's grave at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
Edward Lee says he's been traveling to the cemetery for more than 30 years since he was a child. He says he likes the intricate tombstones, beautiful greenery and Irving.
Lee says he noticed that an old sign directing visitors to Irving's grave was weathering and falling apart, which is what prompted him to make a new sign for the cemetery.
Within a few weeks of Lee's last visit in October, he painted a new sign. He says the sign means more now that he has a family, and wants to keep the tradition of visiting the cemetery alive with his daughters.
Lee's family recently welcomed a second daughter on April 3, who shares the same birthday as Irving. The family says they plan to visit again for the bicentennial celebrations.
