A firefighter from Yonkers is being recognized for his plant-based lifestyle – and his sexiness.

Kevin Duffy, 37, is an Ironman marathon finisher, and has been an active firefighter for eight years.

Duffy is one of 20 men and women finalists in PETA's 2019 "Sexiest Vegan Next Door" contest.

"It's a funny thing, but it's for a good cause," he says.

Duffy says being vegan has helped him recover better from workouts, and has made him have more energy throughout the day.

He credits his vegan lifestyle with getting him through the loss of his brother, who died while working in the Twin Towers on Sept. 11.

Duffy says he promotes his animal-friendly ways to fellow firefighters. Many say they support Duffy but aren't ready to commit to the vegan lifestyle.
