Driver: Truck crashes into New City home after brakes fail

NEW CITY -

A moving truck blew right through an intersection and ended up inside a New City home Tuesday.

The truck, with the driver's 8-year-old son in it, crashed on West Clarkstown Road.

The driver told News 12 he tried to slow down when he realized his truck's brakes weren't working.

He said he hit the house's fence hoping it would stop the truck, but the van went right through the first-floor wall.

"I was scared. I was scared for my son. I was scared for everything. I was scared if there was anybody in there. I was scared about everything. But the brakes did not stop," said the driver.

The homeowner was not injured.
