Off-duty NYPD officer from Elmont killed in Queens motorcycle crash

Police have identified the off-duty NYPD Highway Patrol officer killed Thursday in a Queens motorcycle crash as 42-year-old Marc St. Arromand.
Officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to the southbound crash on Laurelton Parkway, between Linden and Merrick boulevards, not far from the border with Nassau County. They say Arromand was found unconscious with trauma to his head and body. He was pronounced dead at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream hospital.
According to authorities, Arromand lost control of his Yamaha motorcycle and was ejected from it. They say he struck against a guardrail and was left on the roadway. He then was hit by a Chevy Camaro.
News 12 has learned that Arromand, of Elmont, spent 16 years on the force. He leaves behind a wife and five children, ranging in age from a newborn to 11 years old.
Grieving relatives, friends and co-workers comforted one another outside Arromand's home.
Police say the Camaro driver stayed on scene and was not arrested.
