The Yonkers community is mourning the loss of a police officer who died over the weekend.
Police say 33-year-old Officer Tom Goff Jr. was raking leaves in his backyard Saturday when he was found unconscious by his father.
He was rushed to the Lawrence Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Goff was with the Yonkers Police Department for nearly four years and worked out of the 4th Precinct.
Yonkers PBA President Keith Olson says Officer Goff was dedicated to the community, both on- and off-duty.
“I know he volunteered a lot of his time. He was a basketball referee, charity, he volunteered [for] softball, things of that nature," says Olson.
Goff leaves behind his parents, two sisters and a brother.
