Police pull possible I-95 overpass jumper to safety

A man threatened to jump from an Interstate 95 overpass in New Rochelle, shutting down the busy roadway for hours Friday.
The situation started around noon on a pedestrian bridge that's closed to the public near the North Avenue overpass at Exit 16. Traffic was brought to a standstill in both directions for about two hours but has since resumed its usual flow. One person said they heard I-95 was backed up all the way to New Jersey.
Multiple police agencies responded to the scene.
Onlookers gathered as authorities removed the man from a sign just after 2 p.m.
News 12 is told that the man was distraught over a recent death in his family and losing his job.
A construction crew was on scene to resecure the bridge.
