St. Patrick’s Day parades march through Westchester

The sound of bagpipes filled the air this weekend as Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and White Plains held their annual St. Patrick's Day parades.
Hundreds of people turned out Sunday to celebrate all things Irish in Tarrytown despite the gloomy weather.
The parade kicked off on Main Street in Tarrytown and headed north where it ended on Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow.
Many were dressed in green for the occasion. “Every year we're down here because we live right here on the block and we help with the community and share this holiday with everyone including my dog," says one parade watcher.
Crowds also gathered in downtown White Plains for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.
Kids who spoke to News 12 with say they're happy to be part of the tradition. "My favorite thing about this parade was that we're able to have this little ceremony. The spirit that people have about St. Patrick's Day, and I like to see every people like smile and have lots of fun," says Ariana Viveros and Johana Perez, of White Plains.
There were more than 26 musical performances and 90 groups participating.
