Flames tore through a home in Tomkins Cove Friday morning.

Officials say the homeowner ran to a neighbor's house around 10:30 a.m. and called 911 but the home was already engulfed in flames.

Neighbor Brian Sullivan says flames were about 30 to 50 feet in the air.

Smoke could be seen throughout the area and water had to be brought in from neighboring towns as there were no fire hydrants nearby.

The house was located at the top of a mountain so firefighters spent hours going up and down, bringing in the water supply.

Although the home was completely destroyed, neighbors say they are grateful nobody got hurt.

"It's good everybody is safe," Sullivan said. "Everybody got out. That's the important thing."

Officials believe that some sort of electrical problem led to the fire.

They are still investigating, but say the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
