Somers students distribute Kindness Jars to bring positivity to students
Two young girls in Somers came up with a unique way to kick-start kindness at their school.
Students at Primrose Elementary in Somers took a break from science class to welcome Somers Intermediate School students Emma Steinberg and Gianna Comunale.
The girls created more than a dozen kindness jars during winter break to distribute at schools throughout the district.
“If someone's having a bad day, they can go to one of the jars and open it and take a slip out and read it and take it with them or put it back,” says Steinberg.
Most of the students will read their messages inside the classroom, but the goal is for the positivity to linger long after the school day.
