Downed tree just misses bedroom, damages cars in New Windsor

Strong winds wreaked havoc for property owners across the Hudson Valley Monday.
A tall tree was blown over in New Windsor, damaging four cars in a driveway. While some of the cars had just minor dents, others had cracked windshields.
Shana Vandunk, who lives at 14 Jimmy Lane with her family, says she feels lucky that the tree fell feet away from her bedroom where she was sleeping.
"I could not believe it. I knew the winds were strong. I didn't think that would happen," she says. "It's definitely a shock for all of us."
Vandunk says everyone in her home is safe, but a little shaken by the close call.
There were a number of reports of trees down including, one in Goshen. Tree removal workers say they’re expecting to be busy the next few days.
