Collision involving 2 tanker trucks causes major traffic problems on Route 9

A collision involving two tanker trucks forced evacuations and snarled traffic in Marlboro on Route 9 Friday.
Route 9 was shut down in both directions at Route 520 from Union Hill to Texas roads for much of Friday afternoon. All lanes reopened by Friday night.
Viewer video taken moments after the crash shows fuel pouring out of a gash in the side of the tanker.
One truck contained diesel fuel, the other contained gasoline. Police say 6,000 gallons of fuel poured out of the two trucks combined.
The trucks remained at the scene while crews unloaded the remaining fuel from each. Special crews were also required to clean up fuel from the roadway.
Nearby businesses, including a Whole Foods, were evacuated and its workers were sent home. A sign in the window of another business told customers to come back another day.
One driver suffered minor injuries.
One lane will be closed in both directions on Route 9 Saturday and Sunday as crews work to reconstruct the center median. Work will begin at 9 a.m.
