Ice search by first responders comes up empty in Katonah

A massive ice search took place in Katonah Wednesday afternoon after eyewitnesses spotted people walking on the frozen Muscoot Reservoir.
Those witnesses alerted police after the people were no longer in sight, fearing they may have fallen through the ice. State police tell News 12 that the location is very popular for ice fishing.
State police, along with firefighters and divers, combed the area near Route 35 and Cherry Street just to make sure no one was hurt.
"In this situation, we are near one of the main roadways, where water is freely moving. We need all investigators to do a precautionary check see if we do have any people out there,” says New York State Police Captain David Atkins.
Authorities say after nearly five hours, they did not find anyone in the water and cleared the scene.
