Hundreds of family members and friends turned out at St. Gabriel's Church in New Rochelle to say their final goodbyes to Valerie Reyes as she was laid to rest Wednesday.
The 24-year-old disappeared two weeks ago from her New Rochelle home. Her body was then found bound in a suitcase dumped along a highway in Greenwich, Connecticut.
On Monday night, police arrested Javier Da Silva, an ex-boyfriend now living in the U.S. on an expired visa. Police say Da Silva confessed and was charged in federal court with his ex-girlfriend's killing.
Da Silva was in federal court Tuesday and is due back next month.
Reyes is survived by her two parents and brother.
