Valentine’s Day comes early for Rockland vets

CLARKSTOWN -

Valentine's Day has come early for some military veterans in Rockland County.

Students at Little Tor Elementary School surprised the vets in Clarkstown by bringing them gifts, candy, poems, and handwritten cards.

Student Gabrielle Mitchell says she wanted to take the time to "give something back" to the veterans.

The students also plan to bring Valentine's gifts to seniors in New City and Clarkstown.

"It's very nice to see the young ones involved, and to see them smiling when they come in," says veteran Jim Finn. "Something like this is really appreciated."
