A Putnam County teenager is dead after police say he accidentally shot himself in the head.
Officials say 17-year-old Elias Knapp was with friends last week at the teen's home on Ridge Avenue in Putnam Valley when it appears a gun accidentally went off.
They say one of his friends called 911.
They say Knapp was still breathing when he was rushed to the hospital, but later died.
The shooting remains under investigation.
