State Sen. Peter Harckham taught 250 students from Crompond Elementary School about what his job entails Friday.

Harckham discussed the three branches of government and how a bill becomes a law during a town hall meeting.

The students say they learned about a politician's role and how it impacts them as citizens of Yorktown Heights, New York and the U.S.

Harckham spoke for two hours and held a question and answer section.
