Freezing temperatures can be especially tough for those who have no place to call home.
With the brutal arctic air gripping the Hudson Valley, it was a busy day Thursday at the Sharing Community in Downtown Yonkers. The homeless shelter and soup kitchen serves as a refuge from the bitter cold for dozens of the city's less fortunate.
Narcisa Hernandez stopped by to escape the cold and get food for herself and two dependents.
"It's warm. They have warm meal. They have bread and sometimes they have dessert, and extra things like that," she says.
Many who were at the Sharing Community Thursday said they wouldn't know where to go on a freezing cold day if the shelter wasn’t there.
