An attorney says 15 long-time workers at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor were recently fired due to their immigration status.

Attorney Anibal Romero alleges that the termination of his clients is a federal crime. He says they were all fired on the same day after years of employment.

Two former employees, speaking through their attorney, say the reason given for the firing was because they couldn't provide proper documentation to show they could legally work in the U.S.

The employees claim that Trump's company knew they did not have the documentation.

The firings came in the midst of a government shutdown as President Donald Trump called for $5.6 billion in funding for a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

Eric Trump, who is in charge of day-to-day operations at the golf club, told News 12 Westchester in a statement that his father is fighting for immigration reform and "if any employee submitted false documentation in an attempt to circumvent the law, they will be terminated immediately."

Gabriel Sedano, who was a maintenance worker at the golf club for over a decade, says Trump approached him once and handed him a $200 tip and encouraged Sedano to take his wife out for dinner.

Sedano says if he could speak to Trump again, he'd tell him it's the immigrants that would not only make the club, but America great again.
