A school in Suffern was temporarily put on lockdown Wednesday after officials say “loud noises” were heard coming from the surrounding wooded area.
Officials say it’s uncommon to hear those noises near Viola Elementary School off Haverstraw Road.
Out of an abundance of precaution, school officials called police who swept the building. A helicopter was also brought in to inspect the surrounding area.
Authorities say nothing unusual was found. An all clear from the school was given around 2:30 p.m.
Two cruisers remained at the school during the dismissal process.
