Officials: Stock up on water, nonperishables and fuel for storm

Officials are reminding people to stock up on water, nonperishable food and fuel for this weekend's storm that could drop more than a foot of snow on some parts of the Hudson Valley.
In White Plains, residents made weekend plans mindful of the impending storm. One person said they were preparing for a lingerie party.
At the city's Department of Public Works yard, crews were focused on keeping the roads clear of ice and snow.
As temperatures dip into the mid-20s, rock salt isn't as effective. That's why White Plains has two massive tanks filled with liquid calcium chloride, which is added to rock salt to help melt snow and ice.
Trucks were being equipped with snowplows; the salt shed was filled to the brim and the fleet was gassed up. Crews were ready to go Saturday night.
