Turn to Tara: Harrison mom creates ‘NICE’ program to help combat bullying

A Harrison mom who recently participated in News 12’s anti-bullying forum has decided to establish her own anti-bullying initiative.
News 12’s Tara Rosenblum recently put the microscope on the topic of schoolyard bullying in her recent “School of Pain” series. The several-month probe exposed an undereporting of bullying by many school officials to our state leaders.
Elisabeth Sacca said she felt compelled to take action after the forum.
"All that pain came out and made us want to create something better,” she says.

Sacca created the group NICE, whose members met for the first time recently at the Harrison Library.  It included parents, the mayor of Harrison and a local school resource officer.
She says her own daughter was tormented by fellow students at Harrison High School, but now that she has graduated, her focus is on the countless other kids for whom going to school is anything but "nice."
