$1.5 million federal grant saves firefighter jobs

The city of Newburgh has rehired six firefighters that were laid off over the summer.
A total of nine firefighters were sworn in this morning at City Hall, thanks to a three-year, $1.5 million federal grant.
The workers were laid off in July after another grant expired and the city couldn't pay their salaries.
The department is now operating with a total of 68 firefighters in their ranks.
