BEDFORD -

Congregants of a Jewish synagogue in Bedford came together Monday make sure that no one felt left out during the holiday season.

Members of Temple Sharaay Tefila spent days cooking more than 1,000 meals for the event.

"Today is special because as Jewish folks we want to help our neighbors who are not Jewish who might need food,” says Richard Leroy, director of social action for Temple Sharaay Tefila. “We're doing about 1,400 meals."

The members cooked the food in their kitchen, put the chicken, sweet potatoes and green beans into small boxes, packed the food into even bigger boxes and loaded them into cars. The meals will then be sent to various shelters from the Bronx to northern Westchester.
