An hourslong standoff in Mount Vernon Wednesday resulted in a man taken to the hospital for evaluation.
South Columbus Avenue remained blocked off for hours into Wednesday evening. At first, Mount Vernon police said they were at the wrong address, which may be why it took some time to find a man who claimed he was outside of a building armed with a gun threatening to take his own life and "shoot at police."
The officers finally located a man called “Calvin,” who surrendered peacefully with no gun.
There is no word if he is still in that hospital.
Officials say that no weapon was recovered and there have been no criminal charges.
