Shoppers were out in full force, getting some last minute gifts before the holidays, during the last outdoor day of the Nyack Farmers Market today.

About a dozen local vendors were set up at the Main Street parking lot selling fresh bread, fruit, vegetables and other treats. Even Santa dropped by to pick up some snacks for the reindeer!

The farmers market extended its outdoor hours to last through Dec. 20 so shoppers can buy fresh food for Christmas.

Store owners say it's important to shop local. “The money you spend reflects your values. And we think the value is keeping our local economy strong. The food is fresher. You get to meet the people who grow the food that you put on your table, so it’s really a great experience,” says store owner Bill Batson.

The Nyack Farmers Market runs year-round, and will move indoors to the Nyack Center at 58 Depew Ave. on Jan. 3.
