Babylon shop damaged by massive fire reopens for business

A Babylon shop that was damaged by a massive fire is back open for business.
South Shore Paddleboards on East Main Street went up in flames in April. The business and several others were called a total loss at the time.
Owner Karen Marvin says reopening the store felt like coming home. She worked long hours daily for several months to get the gutted shop open in time for Black Friday. She also did all the designing and decorating herself.
Marvin did get some help along the way, in the form of friends, other stores on Main Street and the Babylon Yacht Club, which gave her space to sell and rent her boards over the summer.
A second store that was destroyed by the fire is expected to reopen next month.
Suffolk County police say the fire remains under investigation by arson detectives. No arrests have been made.
