A resident of an Ossining building who has not been able to move into her new apartment due to a massive wall collapse over the summer Turned To Tara for help.
After weeks of waiting and unanswered phone calls from village leaders, the fed up would-be tenant of 80 Main St. decided to give News 12 a call.
News 12 cameras captured the aftermath of the collapse of the 50-foot retaining wall that left dozens of tenants in limbo.
Resident Janis Castaldi claims red tape at Village Hall is the reason she hasn’t moved into her new apartment.
News 12 tried four times to reach the village leaders to no avail, but did get in touch with the village attorney.  The attorney described a tangled web of attorneys, engineer reports and a plan to clean up the property, owned by American Pumping.
A month after News 12 began pressing for answers, there has been some progress. The village attorney tells News 12 that a recent inspection found the building is stable.  The attorney said that once a new platform is built behind the complex to allow for greater access to firefighters, the tenants will be able to move in – likely in the next few months.
